ASME Y14.5 specifies that “any tolerance of orientation or position, and datum references, that are specified for a screw thread, apply to the axis of the thread derived from the pitch cylinder.”

Gage pins, screw heads or tap shanks are misused because they do not reference the pitch diameter. This can cause a misleading reading making an “in tolerance” hole seem “out of tolerance.” Using TRU-POS, your inspection department can adhere to specifications with correct gaging methods and achieve faster thru-put on the CMM. 

Tru-Pos™ locators are ideally suited for locating the true position of threaded holes.

Tru-Pos™ locators designed for UN series threads are inherently designed to match the pitch of your UNJ series internal thread. This is a result of the fact that equivalent UN series and UNJ series threads have the same specified minimum pitch diameter.

Material fatigue, excessive installation force, etc. play a vital role in the repeatability of locating gages. Tru-Pos™ was designed to provide a reliable method in which repeatability is constant. Additionally, split threads cannot be properly calibrated.

Tru-Pos™ was originally designed with a square shoulder to be used where the gauge could be seated against a clean and square surface. In many applications such as castings, irregular surfaces etc. the gauge cannot be properly seated. Tapered Tru-Pos™ locators were designed for this condition.

Yes! Upon return to the factory, we can provide a certificate of calibration to verify the gauge is within specifications. Please note that we cannot repair gages that are worn, nicked, damaged etc.

In 2018, LaVezzi Precision, Inc. was acquired by MW Industries for its medical manufacturing capabilities.
